A Laid Back Weekend

We really did have a laid back weekend, which to me are the best kind! On Friday Ryder had Pajama Day at school so we let him wear his Toy Story 3 Jammies and they got to watch movies, a rare treat! When he came home I asked what movie he watched and he said "Nemo" which also happens to be one of his favorites. I told him I wish that I had gotten to wear my Jammies to work, but it sounded like he had a great day and what a great way to start the weekend! This picture was him all dressed up in his pajamas, heading to school.

Friday afternoon we had gotten a daily progress report from school that said how well Ryder was doing with potty training and that they continued to have him use the potty. He had also come home in Pull Ups training pants the last day, so we figured it was time that we bought a pack ourselves since the weekend was here to see if we could continue his potty success at home too! Saturday morning, we all woke up and felt rested and were having a hankering for pancakes so we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, something we rarely do. I love having breakfast out, and Ryder was especially happy to go out. He loved playing with the peg game the most! After breakfast we went grocery shopping, which is always a dreaded chore, especially with a busy toddler, but it had to be done. While we were at the grocery store, I had to do a double take when I saw all of the Valentines Day stuff. Can you believe tomorrow will be February? I went ahead and bought candies, bubbles, and Valentines cards for all of the kids in his classroom for his upcoming Valentines Day party. One of the things that I do like about daycare is that Ryder gets to participate with fun activities like holiday parties that he wouldn't otherwise get to have. When I saw the Cars themed cards, I knew he would love them!

On Saturday after coming home from the grocery store, Ryder was in a playful mood and wanted to wear Daddy's boots that he had laid out to wear. He looked so funny wearing them! We took a trip to Barnes and Noble to look at some books and Ryder of course checked out the toys and games while we were there too! I love the store and could spend hours looking around, but unfortunately Scot doesn't quite share my passion for reading and I could tell he was getting bored, so I made a purchase and then we headed back home for lunch. We definitely had continued success throughout the day with Ryder's potty training and each time he used the potty, he was so proud of himself! We treated ourselves to pizza and watched a movie at home and I was content with just relaxing and enjoying our night in at home.
In addition to potty training, Ryder has continued his great sleeping patterns and has been sleeping through the night and going down to bed at his 8pm bedtime with no problems. What a difference a week makes! This has made life so much easier for all of us. I wasn't feeling very good on Sunday morning so we skipped church and made plans to try to sleep in. Scot will be away on a few business trips this month so I also wanted to spend as much time as we could before he had to leave. The rest did us all good, and by mid day the sun was out and it felt like a sunny spring day! We took Ryder's slide from the shaded backyard and carried it to the front yard so we could soak up as much Vitamin E as we could! Ryder was having a ball and loved playing outside. The weather has been so cold lately that we really haven't been able to go out much, so I know this was a special treat for him. I also knew that all of the fresh air would make for a great nap!

After playing on his slide for awhile, Scot decided it was too pretty of a day not to wash his car, and of course Ryder wanted to help! It was so funy to watch Ryder soap up the car and then once it was all rinsed down and wiped down, Ryder would gather soap that was on the driveway and soap up the car all over again when Scot wasn't looking. I laughed so hard, and then they would start all over again. I don't think Scot really minded though, as long as Ryder was having fun, which he most certainly was! It was a very restful weekend and I enjoyed the quality time with my sweet family. How was your weekend?
