Tuesday Tidbits

So I never got around to posting Blonde Moment Monday yesterday. Monday kind of came and left as fast as it got here, but that was pretty much the theme over the past week while Scot was on a business trip. I've mentioned before that I just don't do well when he's gone for a week at a time. But this past time I kind of got used to it and managed with both kids by myself much better than I have in the past! I'm sure a lot of this can be attributed to getting more sleep now that Brynley is sleeping through the night pretty much.

So with that as my excuse as to why Blonde Moment Monday never happened, we'll just go ahead and call these randoms Tuesday Tidbits.
So I did something to my neck last week. Ironically it just so happened to occur the day before Scot was leaving. I remember going to sleep the night before on my stomach. You see, I'm a stomach sleeper and lurve sleeping on it! However, two babies later, and the months thereafter where I couldn't sleep on it while being engorged from breastfeeding each night, I was finally indulging in being able to sleep on my stomach, that I must have injured my neck somehow in the process! I guess it had been so long since I'd slept this way, that I wrenched it and woke up immediately I knew I'd pulled something. SO I had Scot give me a neck rub that night but it was on fire, so this is what my bedside table looked like each night before bed. Ice pack, frozen corn, my sock full of rice that I use to heat in the microwave and apply it, Ibuprofen, Hydorcodone, and IcyHot. Whew!
And over a week later it's just now feeling better!
I took the kids to the library, which tends to be our routine every Wednesday now, and afterwards we had a picnic lunch. Ryder was so excited to bring his Lightning McQueen sandwich holder, as well as Brynley's. We had a good day and I loved spending the time with my babies. I'm so happy that it's finally warmed up so that we can spend time outside doing fun things like this!

Friday afternoon I took Ryder and Brynley out for chinese food, as a treat since Ryder absolutely loves steamed rice and stir fry broccoli. And chinese takeout it my favorite too! While we were there, being that we live in Race City USA and the All Star Race was this past weekend, we spotted this racecar and Ryder just had to get a closer look! It made his day to get to sit in the front seat.
Brynley was starving by the time we got to eat! She cracks me up because she's always my hungry girl, especially now that she's eating more and more of the foods we eat. She just can't get enough! And here she is showing off her two bottom teeth.
This little guy has become our "pet" in our garden over the past few days. Upon closer look, I realized that he landed in the bushes and wasn't going anywhere, and that perhaps he wasn't alive anymore. I didn't want Ryder to know, so I just said he could be our garden pet.
In an effort to minimize sleep disruptions each day, I made sure that we visited lots of parks and playgrounds to get all the energy out that I could! It seemed to do the trick and I was surprised that both kids have slept most days from 7:30 at night to about 7 in the morning! Amen to fresh air.

We did break up the weekend and went over to my moms house on Saturday. It was good to see her and spend time with her and my stepdad. Ryder loves loves loves his Nana and Pawpaw and my stepdad has considered Ryder his own flesh and blood grandson from day one. I have thought from the time he was born how I would one day explain to him that he has two granddads. His biological one and his stepgrandfather, but as time passed and I learned that my stepdad has taken over in ways that my own dad never would or has, I realized I probably won't ever have that discussion with him because why ruin the bond that they have with one another. As much as Ryder is a "guys guy", I'm seeing that Brynley is a "girls girl" and has to be wherever I am, as well as my Mom.

So we survived just the three of us, as I knew we would, but it sure is good to have Scot home! I was so happy to see him last night, though exhausted, I thanked God for keeping us all safe until his return, and for a safe flight for Scot. We have plans to drive to Florida this week to see my inlaws, and it will be Brynley's first long trip anywhere. I am actually calm about this, because I have learned to just be prepared for anything. Bring plenty of toys, clothes, distractions, and anything else that you can think of, and try to keep as much of the same routine as you can when going away. We plan to leave later in the day so that hopefully the kids naps and bedtimes will stay the same and they will sleep for most of the trip down. However, as I remember in the past when we made this drive with Ryder, that meltdowns will most definitely happen and not to get bent out of shape when they do.

But before we head out of town, Scot has one final interview this week, and I have a lot of packing to do! I am nowhere near where I want to be as far as bathingsuits are concerned. I don't know how I fell off the workout wagon over the past two weeks, but going 3 days is hardly enough to keep the pounds off after the things I've eaten lately ha! Well I hope that your week is off to a good start! What are your plans for Memorial Day weekend?

I had completely forgotten about Memorial Day - ha! My weekend plans are working on Saturday, but throwing a dinner party for 15 women from our church on Friday night. Gulp. Hopefully it goes well, and hopefully your drive to FL goes well, too!

  3. HOpe you had a great drive down to Florida! Brynley looks just like Sula teething on her stroller. Sula does that all the time. Glad Scot made it home. Have a great LONG weekend!
