Look Out for Pepe LePeu!

Last weekend, we had Scot's Aunt and Uncle visiting from New Hampshire, and we wanted to take them somewhere fun. It also happened to be the weekend of the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival. I can remember coming here as a child, when we lived in Charlotte and would visit my Grandmama. It was fun to go this year and we had been with Ryder as a baby, but it was Brynley's first time!
The view never gets old, seeing just how huge these balloons are, and being able to watch so close up as they launch the balloons into the air and take off. One ascended into the air, and the object was for the rest of the balloons to launch as fast as they could into the air and catch the "hare".
Ryder really enjoyed it this year!

Brynley didn't really know what to think. I was glad to be outside to let her run wild, but did get a bit concerned since we were on a hill and the ground was unsteady!

One of the coolest parts of the entire day, was watching the sunset and seeing the balloons return and then see the character balloons that were there. This was a dragon hot air balloon.
And this was the infamous Pepe LePeu! We literally had to look out for him as he was blowing up because the wind had picked up and he was kind of out of control during our walk back to our seats on the lawn from grabbing a bite to eat. We hung out on the grounds awhile longer, as the sun was setting, preparing for the glow launch.
How magical is this? I was just amazed at how beautiful they were! It was such a fun day but literally all of the fresh air wore us all out ha!

  1. Wow that night glow launch looks amazing! I have only seen hot air balloons from a distance so I don't really have any point of reference as to their size. Looks like fun though. How many people were there?
